On May 5, voters will be asked to approve a $1.9 billion tax increase of which only $1.2 billion will actually be used for road repairs. Please consider this increase will place Michigan in the second highest sales taxation, behind California.
Also, it places us sixth highest in gas tax but 32nd in road quality! It also will be a permanent change in our constitution. In 2005, Michigan median income was $54,900, now it is $48,200! In four years, revenues increased by $2.7 billion in taxes and fees, yet spending has increased by a whopping $4.7! This must stop! Send Lansing a message that they must stop taxing their way out of problems and start cutting in every area, just as we the Michigan taxpayers have had to. Please VOTE NO on more taxes and changing the constitution on May 5. We have had enough! Thank you.
